Los Angeles Family AIDS Network, (LAFAN), Welcomes New Director

Public Health Foundation Enterprises, (PHFE), is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Stephen Randal Henry to the position of LAFAN Program Director. Dr. Henry earned a DrPH in Health Services Management and Research and an MPH in Community Health Sciences from the UCLA School of Public Health.


For over 20 years, PHFE has been the fiscal sponsor of the Los Angeles Family AIDS Network (LAFAN). PHFE is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been providing fiscal sponsorship to nonprofits and government agencies since 1968. The mission of PHFE has been helping improve the health and well being of communities across the nation.


The mission of the LAFAN is to ensure access to culturally, ethnically and linguistically competent medical care, mental health care, substance abuse treatment, housing referrals, and social support services to low-income families, women, infants, children and adolescents living with HIV in Los Angeles (LA) County, California.


LAFAN represents a highly coordinated multiservice network of health and psychosocial service agencies working together to provide comprehensive care for low-income families, women, infants, children and adolescents living with HIV.


LAFAN partners include AltaMed Health Services, The Catalyst Foundation, Children?s Hospital Los Angeles, Miller Children?s Hospital, Northeast Valley Health Corporation, Tarzana Treatment Center, LA County Department of Public Health, Office of AIDS Programs and Policies, and the UCLA Medical Center.


Founded in 1988 as a national pediatric AIDS demonstration project, LAFAN agencies provide reproductive health care, prenatal care, outpatient medical care, mental health and substance abuse treatment, nutritional therapy, transitional case management (jail outreach), housing, social support and referral to care throughout Los Angeles County.


Prior to joining LAFAN, Dr. Henry worked with the LA County Department of Health Service, UCLA/Venice Family Clinic, Children?s Hospital Los Angeles, and the Veterans Health Administration. He has served as a part-time Adjunct Assistant Professor with the USC School of Policy, Planning and Development and a Guest Lecturer for the UCLA Health Education Extension program. In addition, Dr. Henry has served as an Evaluation Director and Principal Investigator on research and evidence based intervention projects for Children?s Hospital Los Angeles and the Veterans Health Administration.

Dr. Mike Colucci Joins Applied Spectra as Global Sales Director

Applied Spectra, Inc., a leading supplier of Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) and Laser Ablation (LA) instruments, announced today that Dr. Mike Colucci has joined the company as Global Sales Director.


Mike will manage Applied Spectra?s international product distributors. In addition, he will lead the company's North American direct sales of laser ablation products, including the J100 Femtosecond LA instrument for high precision LA-ICP-MS** analysis. Mike will drive sales activities for the company?s LIBS instruments in the geochemistry market and he?ll work closely with Applied Spectra?s world-class team of scientists to identify and develop new products and features.


Mike brings an impressive 17 years of sales experience in the analytical instrumentation industry, notably with quadrupole, high resolution and magnetic sector multi-collector ICP-MS instruments, isotope ratio mass spectrometers (TIMS, SIRMS and Noble Gas) as well as compatible laser ablation systems.

Mike received his B.A. and M.S. degrees in the Geological Sciences from Rutgers University, and a Ph.D in the same field from Southern Methodist University. He has published in several scientific journals including the Journal of Petrology and Geology.
